In Massachusetts it is not required by law to pursue formal training or certification, but those that do so will enjoy greater job opportunities.

Phlebotomy training can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months.  You must be at least 18 years old and possess a diploma, or a GED certificate.

You can become certified in phlebotomy from:

  • The American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or;
  • The American Society for Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT)
